Hi this is Cary Ellis outdoors at the Rocky Mountains on a beautiful spring day. People always ask me what the cure for flu is, how to get rid of flu, and how to treat flu naturally.
It’s really good to know what natural home remedies are to keep us healthy and help us get well from the flu. People often think of the old fashioned saying, “Starve a cold, feed a fever”. That saying actually is: “Starve a cold lest you feed a fever,” which means when you have a cold or flu symptoms, a great thing to do is to cleanse in order to “starve your cold or flu.”
An excellent start is to drink vegetable juices and herbal teas with plenty of warm fluids throughout the day. Avoid fluids with a lot of sugar content. If you bought fruit juice from the store make sure there is no sugar or high fructose corn syrup added. Dilute it with a bit of water so that it’s not too strong, and be sure to drink water in between.
Best fluids are warm water or herbal tea with a little lemon juice or plain. In order to get our system cleansed, we want to make sure that the intestinal tract is moving and consider adding flaxseed or flaxseed meal to the diet. Natural grown flaxseed is available in supermarkets these days especially in the specialty food section. You may want to keep these in the refrigerator. Add to juice or shake, 1-2 teaspoons per day, or sprinkle over a light meal such as salad or rice and vegetables.
Cleansing, flushing the system, eating a little bit lighter, and staying off dairy products (which can be congesting) is important. Dairy products are the natural food for an infant of a species, but once we are adults they can be very mucous forming, and contribute to conditions in which a cold or flu can start. When fighting sickness, we want to decrease congestion in any way we possible, so minimizing dairy products is essential. Lightening up our diet, cleansing, plenty of fluids, making sure that the intestinal tract is being cleaned out are all part of basic lifestyle habits that will protect us from getting sick, and help us get well when colds and flu occur.
When these lifestyle habits are followed, you’ll be amazed at how often you can stay well when others are sick around you. This is an eseential foundation for wellness, that we can then add herbal remedies, fresh air, sunshine, plenty of rest to accelerate the process of getting and staying well.

Have you ever had one of those “moments of truth” about the state of your body?

carrying around extra weight

don’t have as much energy as you used to

see signs of aging

lines showing up on face

don’t sleep well at night

or have been diagnosed with an illness

… And then have you wondered, “Does it really have to be this way?”

Initiating the Self-Healing Journey

Such moments often initiate our journey of self healing, which can be challenging and at the same time one of the most wonderful adventures of our lives, which responds to the hunger we all have inside to be youthful, attractive, fit, strong and truly healthy.

Pesticide Exposure

My story started about 40 years ago, when I grew up spraying an apple orchard with my dad. Those were the days when we sprayed DDT, Chlordane, Malathion, poisons that were literally left over nerve gases from World War II.

By the time I was 18, although I was gifted with a strong body, I had chronic health problems. I began my search to cultivate a lifestyle to recover from the results of years of pesticide exposure:

I became a vegetarian

Moved towards living foods

I did regular body cleansing

detoxification

yoga

more activities to cleanse and heal

I was invited to become Educator with Gerson Cancer Therapy Institute, doing rounds daily with Charlotte Gerson Strauss. I learned wonderful things at Gerson Institute, and the best part was watching people get well.

Charlotte Gerson Strauss

I saw a woman in mid 30s heal from breast cancer, I watched a man eliminate a grapefruit sized tumor through his chest wall. I began to see that the body could heal itself in an amazing ways that weren’t conventionally recognized.

If you’re not familiar with the Gerson Program developed by Dr. Max Gerson in the 1950′s, I highly recommend the movie “Beautiful Truth” a touching story about the Gerson Therapy, developed around key principles that are foundational to most healing therapies that work today.

Establishing a New Belief System

This began to establish a new belief system. Next I became Co-Director of a Wheatgrass Institute in Michigan, called Hippocrates (later changed to Creative Health Institute).

Juicing and Raw Foods

wheatgrass

We developed an incredible outreach program with a weekly buffet of raw foods and teach people now to use wheatgrass juice. I transitioned completely into the raw foods lifestyle and teaching it. I saw a man who had leukemia with a blood count so low that he should have been dead and in a week of wheatgrass he had a normal blood count.

As I began to see these changes in people’s lives, I could see who was getting well, and how, which brought me to a point where I was completely changing my belief system…

PART 2

New Belief Systems and Regeneration

Given the right conditions, the body is incredibly capable of healing itself. I studied Dr. John Ray’s Health and the Human Mind and Body Electronics, and had the amazing experience of my own broken arm healing in a matter of 6 hours. I then taught Body Electronics over several years and saw many amazing healings with shift of belief system, mind and body.

I saw a man grow digit back on his finger, I saw a woman lose 8 dress sizes in one point holding session. I saw a legally blind woman be able to read street signs. I have learned that we can get to a point of seeing this kind of healing in our lives, as we change our belief systems about the body’s capability of healing itself.

Again, cultivating a new belief system as to what the body, mind and spirit are capable of, including changes that take place, knowledge and wisdom about body, mind and emotions, and how to live in right relationship. When we live in correct balance, we open ourselves to an incredibly regenerative lifestyle.

PART 3

Swimming with Dolphins

Dolphins and Quantum Reality: What if being with dolphins opened us up to our own higher powers and abilities? Travel with Cary Ellis as she recounts years of experiences with wild dolphins. Entrain your brain waves to the brain wave pattern of the dolphins to access your own healing energy.

Allow yourself to consider a new perception of frequency healing that carries us into quantum reality, literally transforming the lives of those who participate. Cary’s story reveals powerful secrets of energy healing with dolphins and living beyond old perceptions of reality.

Hi! Cary Ellis here, and I’d like you to meet my good friend, Dennis, one of the most committed people to healthy lifestyle I know. Dennis, please share with us about how you like to make an everyday healthy raw salad.

Dennis: I really enjoy and find a raw salad satisfying and I usually start out with something like corn or anything which is fresh and raw because as I mentioned before, anything that is not cooked has more nutritional value.
I like to start out with putting a little bit of raw corn cut off the cob. Chop and add a nice amount of scallions, to enhance taste and protective qualities. Dice some tomatoes. As I’ve said, any kind of raw food would do, whatever it is you have, you can add. You might also add some shredded cabbage.
This doesn’t take much time to do. It only takes about 10 minutes at most. I consider this putting a complete nutritional meal together. Let’s also add a pinch of earth salt, because it has extra nutritional value and many minerals that other salts do not have. Let’s also add raw, virgin olive oil; and I’m sure you know it has great nutritional value!
And now we are ready to taste this sample! Mmmm….

Cary: So Dennis you told us that partly your athletic pursuits made you chooses this lifestyle, but what are the other reasons?

Dennis: One reason was that I really want to use my potential as a person, mentally, physically, spiritually, emotionally and I really felt that the diet was a path in that direction. So that was another inspiring place for me to concentrate more on my food intake and get a lot of exercise.

Cary: What kind of changes has your body gone through as you gone through this transition? Particularly being a vegetarian.

Dennis: Some of the changes were subtle. When I eliminated dairy from my diet I really notice that my sinuses were a lot better. I did not have any morning phlegm, that sort of thing. I used to have some allergies and my allergies cleared up. So eliminating dairy from my diet was a major transition and I think raw foods has really been a shift for me in terms of energy and just better sense of well-being and just more zest for life.

Cary: Do you even as a vegetarian you were pretty lean but did you also drop a little weight when you switched to completely raw?

Dennis: I did, I was about 195 to 200 pounds and with a height of 6’5 I definitely lost weight when I went on totally raw. My body had the opportunity to cleanse and I think I’m at my optimum weight now which is about 185 pounds and I really feel great.

Cary: That’s pretty neat for a 6’5, but do you feel good and strong?

Dennis: I do, and you know there are days that I have more intake and I think living a raw lifestyle I’m more in tune to my body’s needs and I am more in tune when to eat. I don’t eat by the clock I eat when I feel hungry and that’s maybe twice a day or even once a day, or sometimes three times a day. So that’s been a real shift for me too, which is really listening more to my body.

Cary: So tell us what a typical day is like for you.

Dennis: Okay! Typical day I usually get up between 5:30 and 6 and I will go out for morning exercise, which might include walking or some light jogging for about an hour or an hour and a half. I come back and have a blend of several kinds of greens, including green powders and I also use some soaked walnuts and soaked almonds. I use that as a basis for protein, and I have about 2 glasses of that in the morning. Then I go to work or do whatever that I want to do, and maybe around 1 or 2 in the afternoon depending again how my body feels I may have another green drink or I may have a light salad and then most times I have a large salad at night..

Easy egg fritatta recipes hail from Mediterranean cuisine – where eggs and veggies are mixed together and covered in a hot heavy skillet to make a light fluffy no-time-to-cook omlet. This can be a great dish for a brunch recipe, egg casserole recipe, breakfast casserole recipe, or for easy dinner veggie recipes.

This fritata is as simple as sautéing a few veggies such as bell pepper, onion and parsley in a little olive oil, adding the beaten eggs, and covering till it raises light and fluffy ready to eat. A little cheese can be thrown on the top to melt makes it extra delicious but a little more rich.

Cary Ellis cooking tips are to complement this dish with Spanish rice made simply by adding salsa to leftover rice and warming up, and a bright salad made with romaine lettuce and tomatoes. This is simple healthy food could come out of any kitchen its so simple to make.

For those seeking to transition to the vegetarian lifestyle a veggie meal like this can satisfy family members at different stages of eating. One might eventually want to lighten up on eggs and stick to gentler plant fare, but on the path to lighter eating this easy fritatta recipe is a must have meal for those with no time to cook.

This fits the bill easier than an egg casserole recipe, can be adapted with potatoes for egg breakfast recipes and of course after a hard day working it also makes an easy dinner.

Adventure travel outdoors is one of the greatest ways to relieve ourselves of everyday stress. You might be surprised if you start looking for places to escape to near where you live. When we live busy lives we may not be aware of National Parks surrounding us. Begin dreaming of a peaceful escape, look at maps within a few hundred mile radius of where you live, and plan your weekend getaway now. Maybe take an extra day or two off so you have a 3-4 days to relax, decompress, and let go of stress and anxiety.

Adventure Trip Great Sand Dunes National Park

All we can hear is a little wind; it’s very quiet and very peaceful. We are at the end of the San Louis Valley in eastern Colorado. These are the tallest sand dunes in North America. They were formed by the wind, blowing the sand from the valley floor. They create a beautiful landscape of nature’s “art.”

Our adventure to get away and de-stress is at Great Sand Dunes National Park. We’re spending the weekend in a natural wonderland in some incredibly sweet fresh air. What we like most in here is the SILENCE. The campground is actually full, but even so, there’s so much open space here and nature in its magnificence. We feel at peace in these surroundings, on this weekend of adventure travel at it’s finest.

Restored 1950 Spartan Trailer and 1950 Federal Truck

This morning, we woke up with the rain beating on the roof of our restored 1950 Spartan travel trailer. There’s a sprinkling of snow on the mountains, like powdered sugar in the chilly air. It’s late September, on the brink of winter, yet we’re in one of those marginal times between seasons when it’s still really pleasant to be outside, go for walks and just enjoy the natural beauty surrounding us, with the comfort of our camper for protection from the elements.

A drought tolerant shrub in this high desert terrain is Chamisa or gray rabbitbrush. An informative sign tells us its fading yellow flowers were used to make one of the oldest indigenous yellow dyes used by Native Americans for their blankets.

Rabbitbrush or Chamisa High Desert Shrub

On the ground to our surprise we also see cactus growing in the area. The soil is mostly sand, and even though at a high elevation of 8,000 feet, the vegetation is mostly desert-type plants.

Relax in the Wilderness

Getting out in the wilderness, on an adventure tour, hike, walk, camping trip, bicycle or horseback ride can relieve stress, and enliven the mind with new, interesting experiences.

As difficult as it is to break away, once we do, it can bring great peace to body, mind and spirit, getting away from cellphones, computers, and all the things that keep us wrapped-up in the manmade world. Being out in nature with friends and family can bring lightness to the mind and reduce stress in body and mind.

Stress Relief in Nature

Once we relax, and allow ourselves to enjoy a peaceful environment, endorphins increase, those hormones that relax the body and lighten the mind.

This sort of adventure does’t cost much, it’s even do-able on a budget. The most difficult part is convincing ourselves to take the time off, once we do we realize how much healthier we can be with little breaks like this, to occasionally reduce stress and come back to our everyday world refreshed. Once we get going, the fact that it’s exciting makes it even that much more wonderful and restorative. So go get out your tent or camp trailer and plan a natural stress-release get-away today!
